On August 4, a delegation led by Dinh Cong Tuan, Party Secretary and President of Hanoi University of Culture, Vietnam (HUC), paid a visit to GXU. Xiao Jianzhuang, Deputy Party Secretary and President of GXU, attended the forum and exchange session, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation on behalf of the university. Yu Wenjin, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice-President, presided over the forum.

Xiao Jianzhuang extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation. He noted that China and Vietnam enjoy a time-honored traditional friendship. Guided by its development strategy of “Deepening Engagement with ASEAN and Embracing the World”, GXU has yielded fruitful outcomes in exchanges and cooperation with multiple Vietnamese universities and research institutions. In recent years, GXU and HUC have carried out several mutual visits, held in-depth consultations and reached broad consensus, laying a solid foundation for further cooperation. He expressed the hope that the two universities would establish a stable inter-university cooperation mechanism and deepen collaboration in joint talent training, high-level experts reciprocal visits and academic exchanges, co-hosting of cultural events, and collaborative research projects, so as to better serve the building of a higher-level strategically significant ChinaVietnam community with a shared future.

Dinh Cong Tuan thanked GXU for its hospitality and gave a brief introduction to the profile and educational features of HUC. He pointed out that GXU shares a unique historical bond with Vietnam’s education sector. The successful visit to China and GXU by To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President, has created an important opportunity for bilateral cooperation. Attaching great importance to research in culture and humanities, HUC looks forward to conducting pragmatic cooperation with GXU in cultural research, talent training and academic exchanges, promoting more faculty-student exchange visits and studies, and contributing to deeper people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Vietnam.

Yu Wenjin briefed the guests on the development of GXU. He remarked that the two universities enjoy complementary strengths in fields including language teaching, China-Vietnam cultural studies and tourism management. He hoped both sides would build on their respective disciplinary strengths and resources to deepen cooperation and advance the bidirectional flow of high-quality educational resources.

At the forum, both sides had in-depth discussions covering faculty mutual visits, student exchange, joint scientific research and cultural co-construction. Representatives from the two institutions signed the MOU. Xiao Jianzhuang conferred an appointment letter of Adjunct Professor of GXU upon Dinh Cong Tuan.

During the visit, Dinh Cong Tuan and his entourage toured the former site of Guangxi Nanning Yucai School (Vietnam Central School Zone), as well as the University History Museum and the School of Marxism of GXU.

Person-in-charge from the International Cooperation and Exchange Department (International Student Management and Service Center), the School of Marxism, the School of Liberal Arts, the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, and the School of Arts of GXU participated in the event.
